What is Papaya Guide?
Papaya Guide is your local booking guide for authentic Dominican Republic experiences. We connect travelers with verified local guides and service providers, offering tours, transportation, and unique services across the Dominican Republic.
How do I book an experience?
Booking is simple! Browse our website, select your desired experience or transportation, and complete your reservation online in just a few clicks. You'll receive instant confirmation after payment.
Can I book 24/7?
Yes! Our online booking system is available around the clock, so you can reserve your Dominican adventure anytime, anywhere.
Can I book multiple services in one order?
Yes! Simply add all the services you want to your cart and complete your purchase. You'll receive one confirmation email with a summary of your order. Each service will have its own confirmation code and guide contact details—you'll find everything in the Orders section of your Profile.
Do you offer group discounts?
Yes! We offer special discounts for group bookings. Whether you're traveling with friends or family, you can save by booking together. You'll find the discount details listed next to a service or experience offer where available. For more details, check our Group Discount page.
How do I pay?
You can pay online using your credit or debit card, as well as mobile wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Pay. All payments are processed through a trusted payment provider and are fully protected. Papaya Guide does not have access to your payment card details. You'll get instant confirmation as soon as your booking is complete.
What currency are prices listed in?
All prices are displayed in US Dollars (USD). If you're paying from an account in a different currency (such as Euro, Canadian Dollar, or other currencies), the amount will be automatically converted at the current exchange rate at the time of payment.
Are there any additional fees?
No. The price you see is the price you pay. Tips for your guide or service provider are welcome but entirely optional.
What happens after I book?
You'll receive a confirmation email with a summary of your order. After booking, connect with your local guide or service provider to arrange a specific date and time that works for you. Your guide or service provider will enter the agreed date into your booking as the "Scheduled Date". Full order details are always available in the Orders section of your Profile.
When does my experience need to take place?
All booked experiences and services must take place within 60 DAYS of your booking, unless otherwise stated in the service description. Keep this timeframe in mind when coordinating a date with your guide / service provider.
What information will the guide need?
Your guide will ask for your confirmation code when you meet at the start of your experience. Please provide it only in person on the day of your service, do not share this code via message or in advance.
Can I cancel or change my reservation?
Yes. You can cancel your booking by contacting us at order@papayaguide.com at least 72 hours before your scheduled date. In your email include your order number and specify what you wish to cancel—whether it's the entire booking, specific services, or specific participants. All cancellation requests must be submitted to Papaya Guide, your guide is not authorized to cancel bookings. Please note that a different cancellation period applies to Stays. For these bookings, cancellation is possible if requested more than 7 days before the scheduled date.
Can I get a refund if I need to cancel?
Yes. Refunds are available if you request cancellation within the required cancellation period. For most bookings that's at least 72 hours before your scheduled date. For Stays, more than 7 days before your scheduled date. We apply a small 7% administrative fee (minimum $10, maximum $140) to cover transaction processing costs. This is not a cancellation penalty, just the cost of handling the refund. Your refund will be processed within 14 days and returned to your original payment method.
What happens if I don't show up?
If you do not show up on the scheduled date without prior cancellation, the booking is considered a no-show and is non-refundable.
Can I change my scheduled date or time?
Once a date is scheduled, it is binding for both you and your service provider, and any change is subject to your service provider's approval. If you need to adjust your date or time, contact your service provider directly to discuss potential options.
What should I bring or wear for my experience?
It depends on the activity. For outdoor excursions, we recommend a bathing suit, towel, hat, sunglasses, and applying sunscreen and insect repellent before your tour. For active experiences such as hiking or dancing, comfortable clothing and closed shoes are ideal. For cultural activities, casual comfortable clothing is perfectly fine. When in doubt, check the photos in the service description for inspiration!
Do I need to speak Spanish?
While Spanish is helpful, it's not required. Services are offered in Spanish or English, unless otherwise stated in the service description. Our guides typically speak English at a basic level, and we're here to help bridge any communication gaps.

What if an experience is marked "Sold Out"?
It means the service is currently fully booked or unavailable. Feel free to contact us to check for future availability or explore similar experiences.
